Australian Fire Fighters in the east coast regions are exhausted and summer has only just started. The government is in denial that there is such a thing as climate change and is reluctant to take any major action towards slowing down the effects on the environment.
Their belief is that we have had these type of weather patterns in the past and will have them again in the future, but the thing they don’t seem to recognize is that we are having these weather events more frequently and more devastating.
Just about every year there is some major weather event to contend with ie floods, wild storms and hail and now bush fires. Recently we had snow fall at one end of the continent, out of control fires in another and wild hail storms in another area. So is this normal weather patterns? No I think not.
I don’t see how any one can deny climate change is real! I was listening to a talk back show the other day and someone asked why the government hasn’t made any definite steps in combating climate change. Another persons response was they cannot go against their backers or sponsors. That can only mean that they cannot go against the big coal and mining companies.
So that is what we are up against! I guess our continent will be left to fend for itself until we change government. So in the meantime our thoughts and extreme gratitude goes out to all our fire fighters who go beyond the call of duty to keep us safe.
