I came across this great article the other day that suggests eating at night time could not only lead to weight gain but promote diabetes and heart disease. In various studies it was discovered that there is a link between eating late and weight gain as it raises glucose and insulin levels, as well as, cholesterol and triglycerides, which can increase your risk of heart disease. It is also thought that these evening meals and snacks caused people to gain weight by reducing their body’s fat metabolism or the process by which fats are broken down and used for energy. It is this delayed eating that leads to the body storing carbohydrates – which can lead to weight gain and raised blood sugar and insulin levels. It is also thought that late night bingeing can lead to indigestion and gastric reflux issues.
